MDPPA, together with the representatives from the Philippine Government, meet today with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Japan Automobile Standards Internalization Center to have a bilateral discussion on policies concerning UNR136, an international standard related to electrical and battery safety of electric motorcycles at National Traffic Safety and Environment Laboratory in Chofu, Tokyo, Japan.
This 4-day event, initiated by MDPPA, is headed by its President, Mr. Alexander Cumpas, will focus on discussions about electrification as one of the multi-pathways approaches on reducing carbon emissions, and is a testament of the motorcycle industry’s commitment on adhering to the safety standards for end-users while meeting Carbon neutrality targets of the world.
The Philippines, headed by Mr. Ferdinand Ortega., Undersecretary for Road Transport of DOTr, is composed of members from Board of Investments under Department of Trade and Industry as represented by Ms. Corazon Halili Dichosa, Executive Director of Board of Investments and Mr. Elvin Garcia, Supervising Investment Specialist of BOI; Bureau of Philippine Standards- Engr Leah Arella, Chief of Standards Conformity Division and Engr. Jay Illescas, Chief for Products Testing Divisions, and from Department of Energy, as represented by Mr. Andresito Ulgado, OIC Chief Science Research Specialist under EV Industry Division.
